News Sources

So who can you trust to get information from? Well, there are no easy answers. But I hope to make your life a little easier with this list of people and organizations who report reliably on our orange oligarch.
People
  • Van Jones
    • Of course he’s on here. And of course, I’m putting him at the top of the list. Van Jones stood up to Donald’s flying monkeys for nearly two goddamn years (side note: why the hell are our elections so long?) He coined the term “whitelash,” which I will bet cold hard cash on being a term history textbooks use. He told off Corey Lewandowski, multiple times. Van Jones will not lie to you about what fascism looks like.
  • Tony Schwartz
    • The author of the Art of the Deal, who has taken steps to publicize what the carrot man is like when no one is looking.
  • Jacob Weisberg
    • The journalist who started a funny podcast about Donald back when people thought he couldn’t possibly get the Republican nomination. It’s not as funny now, but Jacob Weisberg keeps telling the truth when people are scared to.
  • Masha Gessen
    • A brilliant journalist with tons of experience covering autocrats. She’s written a book entitled Autocracy: Rules for Survival that everyone should read.
  • Paul Krugman
    • An ardent defender of democracy and Hillary Clinton. His pieces in the New York Times are always a delight.
  • Charles M. Blow
Newspapers/magazines:
Here's the deal. No newspaper is truly trustworthy. Every newspaper played a role in what happened on November 8th. But you have to get your news from somewhere because if you don't, that's how they win.
National
  • Slate Magazine-- Slate doesn't treat Donald like a political leader. They treat him like a threat to democracy and human decency. It's promised to stand up against him in the future too, which means they're going to need subscribers and supporters.
  • The New York Times-- The NYT has published some really great pieces of journalism calling out Donald. They haven't moved down the path towards normalizing his behavior. Their editorial board condemned Donald during the campaign cycle in a beautifully written piece I'd recommend everyone read.  It's likely that this paper will be high on Donald's hit list and could also use support from readers.
  • The Washington Post--Donald actually revoked press access for the Post at one point during the endless Campaign From Hell. They've also written a number of good pieces condemning Donald's behavior, and like the NYT, published multiple editorials condemning him.
  • Vanity Fair-- Vanity Fair has given itself the tagline "the magazine that DJT dosen't want you to read." Any magazine that does that is a win in my book.
Podcasts
  • Trumpcast-- A podcast on Donald’s more fascistic tendencies and the impact they will have on the world.
  • Slate Political Gabfest- A good place to get your political news that won't talk about Donald like he's just a normal politician
